MG Launches Limited-Run Cyberster & M9 Couture Editions, Just 50 Units Each
JSW MG Motor India has launched Couture Editions of its two flagship electric vehicles, the M9 luxury MPV and the Cyberster roadster, under its premium MG SELECT retail brand. The M9 Couture Edition is priced at ₹84.94 lakh, while the Cyberster Couture Edition costs ₹87.49 lakh, both ex-showroom, a premium of roughly ₹5 lakh over the standard versions. Only 50 units of each will be sold in India.
The editions are the result of a collaboration with fashion designer Gaurav Gupta, built around his "Serpent Infinity" motif, a recurring symbol in his couture collections meant to represent continuity and transformation. Rather than any mechanical changes, MG has focused entirely on visual exclusivity: both cars get a white exterior base, with the Cyberster receiving orange Serpent Infinity-inspired streaks, gold-finished badges, and tonneau cover embroidery, while the M9 takes a more understated route with charcoal graphics and decorative brooches around the front emblem.
Bookings opened on July 20 through MG SELECT's dealership network, spanning 14 cities, with first deliveries scheduled from August 10, 2026. Mechanically, both editions carry over the standard powertrains unchanged, this is a styling-focused release, not a performance one.
Why It Matters
The Couture Editions are a small-volume halo move, 100 cars total, rather than something most buyers will cross-shop. What's more telling is the context: MG reported record wholesale sales of 8,158 units in July 2026, with electric vehicles making up over 80% of that volume. A designer collaboration this deep into MG's EV lineup signals a brand trying to establish itself as a genuine luxury player in India, not just a value one.
